Hunter And Michael

Chief Medical Examiner for the City and County of San Francisco California. I would like to introduce myself and explain a little about what I do for a living. As an active medical examiner and board certified forensic pathologist I am routinely involved in the investigation of suspicious deaths. I work closely with law enforcement and other forensic specialists to obtain information regarding the circumstances of an individual's death, perform a portmortem examination of the deceased, recognize and maintain all pertinant evidence; and establish factual aspects in each case to come to an expert medical opinion as to the cause of death. One of the main responsibilities of a forensic pathologist is the performance of autopsies and the documentation of the postmortem findings. This documentation can be used to assist the families, those in the legal profession, or other relevant parties in obtaining a clear and impartial set of facts from which a medical opinion as to the cause and manner of death can be reached.

The defeat of the near-invincible villain Krodin has left a void in the superhuman hierarchy, a void that two opposing factors are trying to fill. The powerful telepath Max Dalton believes that the human race must be controlled and shepherded to a safe future, while his rival Casey Duval believes that strength can only be achieved through conflict. Caught in the middle is Lance McKendrick, a teenager with no special powers, only his wits and the tricks of a con artist. But Lance has a mission of his own: Krodin’s ally, the violent and unpredictable supervillain Slaughter, murdered Lance’s family, and he intends to make her pay. Michael Carroll has this habit, I think it's down to him being a comic book writer as well, of making his books as plot-twist-y (yes that's a word) and gripping as possible. Hunter, the 7th book in the series (excluding the short story collection) is in my opinion one of the best books in the series, along with Sakkara and Superhuman.

It is about my personal favourite character Lance Armstrong (or, as he later becomes known, Hunter Washington), and the story seen in Stronger, the previous book, told from his side of the story. It is about his interaction with the various characters, such as Maxwell 'Max' Dalton (what a dick), and how he - Lance/Hunter - is more awesome than he seems at first - which is an impressive feat in itself, believe me. This book is made more amazing if you've read the previous books, by what it means for the rest of the New Heroes Universe - with things like Lieberstan and Mystery Day - and so I suggest before you read this book, you read the rest of the series. This is a series that you must read if you are into sci-fi/fantasy, there is no question about that.

This book is just fantastic, and IT'S LEFT ON YET ANOTHER FRUSTRATINGLY TANTALISING CLIFFHANGER DAMMIT WHY DO ALL OF MICHAEL'S BOOKS HAVE TO END LIKE THAT??? I have been left theorising by the end of this book, waiting on edge for the next, and if nothing else would like someone else to join me in that. By the time I had gotten to the 2nd book in the Super Human series, I was convinced that Michal Carrol had created a dang good superhero story.
